NON-PROFIT PURCHASES BUILDING TO EXPAND SERVICES
TO PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES

A Maryland-based non-profit providing residential support and services to people with disabilities has recently completed the purchase of a 57,000 square feet building, 6900 Virginia Manor Road in Beltsville. Part of the Ammendale Business Park, the building located on the corner of Ammendale Road and Virginia Manor Road, will house the headquarters of Frontline Community Services (FCS).

Among the various services provided to people with disabilities, the agency cares for intellectually and developmentally disabled persons in DC and Maryland. Frontline’s more recent initiatives include a transitional housing program for displaced people with special needs, plans for a veterans’ workforce development program as well as an employment readiness initiative for people with disabilities. The agency is in the process of implementing various programs to equip persons served with computer training, T-shirt printing, culinary skills and other courses that will empower them to find employment.

The Chairman of Frontline’s Board, Terry Seamans, had this to say about the acquisition of the new premises, “The completed purchase of Frontline’s new headquarters property signals the beginning of a new era. The Board of Directors is pleased that Frontline now has sufficient space to continue our current efforts and to implement the various new initiatives that will benefit the people we serve and the community at large.”

Frontline’s new headquarters will include ample space for their Freedom Club, launched 4 years ago.  The Freedom Club offers persons served access to dance and yoga classes, arts and crafts, cooking lessons, physical fitness training and music therapy sessions. Jeanllen Herbert, one of the persons served and Vice President of Frontline’s Freedom Club says, “The Freedom Club offers so many great activities that help you build confidence and feel better about yourself.  There is an amazing sense of belonging and family at Frontline and the Freedom Club provides you with the opportunity to build friendships and express oneself in creative ways.”  Equally hopeful of the expansion opportunities the new space would offer is experienced behavior specialist and Executive Vice President of Frontline, Ms. Lizzie Timothy.  “This acquisition gives us boundless opportunities to exercise our collective creativity and tailor the delivery of our services to fit the unique needs of our persons served in a more person-centered environment,” she says.

Experienced psychiatrist at VA Hospital in Washington D.C., Dr. Ninala Jennefer Wilkinson states, “Frontline’s spacious new headquarters will provide the ideal environment for veterans to participate in activities that will hopefully enhance their employment preparedness through programs we expect to launch.”

Since taking on its present identity in 2009, the company has made rapid strides and is led by committed leadership who work tirelessly to enhance the quality of life of the people served. Praveenya Pallipamula, Vice President of Quality Management comments, “Frontline is committed to maintaining high quality services which meet standards of excellence as well as being able to operate and manage the organization’s affairs in an effective, creative, and responsive manner.  The new premises will be conducive to establishing a work environment that is supportive of staff and persons served.  This is yet another step taken in line with our commitment to serving the needs of our community’s most vulnerable people by adding meaning to their lives,” she concluded.
