PERSON SERVED BY FRONTLINE COMMUNITY SERVICES HONORED BY THE DEPARTMENT OF DISABILITY SERVICES, DC & MAYOR MURIEL BOWSER FOR DEVELOPMENTAL DISABILITIES AWARENESS MONTH
Ms. Jeanllen Herbert, one of the persons served by Frontline Community Services’ DC Program, was the proud recipient of the Developmental Disability Awareness Month’s Champion Award. The Department of Disability Services in DC recognized Ms. Herbert’s outstanding achievement in the “inclusion of people with developmental disabilities in all aspects of community life.”
Ms. Herbert was honored at an event hosted by DC’s Department of Disability Services on Thursday, March 30, 2023. The event, held to commemorate Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month, was attended by guest of honor, Mayor Muriel Bowser.

Since joining the Frontline family in 2014, Ms. Herbert has actively worked hand in hand with Frontline’s team of clinicians, her program team, and DDS Service Coordinator to leverage her strengths, and has adopted a wholistic approach to her self-improvement.
Delighted to see Ms. Herbert being recognized, Sophonie Ilera, Ms. Herbert’s Program Manager said, “Jeanllen’s desire for independence, her focus towards her job, and her gentle natured approach to self-improvement, and healing are inspiring to all who encounter her.” Shernett Walters, Ms. Herbert’s House Manager, congratulated her and highlighted how “Jeanllen has consistently worked on improving herself and on creating a life she loves. Her positivity and kindness are big contributors to this, and we are all so proud of what she has achieved!” In recollecting how far Ms. Herbert has progressed since her admission, Ms. Natasha Abraham, Clinical Director, commended Ms. Herbert, saying, “Jeanllen’s perseverance and the role she has played in gaining and growing her independence since joining Frontline Community Services is nothing short of exemplary! Jeanllen’s progress should serve as inspiration to others with intellectual and developmental disabilities that, where there is a will, there is a way.”
The management and staff at Frontline congratulated Ms. Herbert on being a role model for other persons served at Frontline and a source of encouragement to all persons served.
